Backend Engineer

As a Backend Engineer at FLOWSTATE, you build the core technical infrastructure of our platform: from scalable data pipelines for financial models and APIs to the integration of AI agents into mission-critical financial processes. You work in a small, technically demanding team with short decision paths and a high degree of ownership.

• Build and operate scalable backend services and data pipelines for financial modeling and analytics processes
• Design and implement REST and GraphQL APIs for internal and external system integrations
• Integrate LLM-based AI agents and ML models into existing financial workflows
• Optimize database structures, queries and performance for complex financial datasets
• Help shape the system architecture with a focus on scalability, security and maintainability
• Conduct code reviews, write technical documentation and continuously refactor

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in backend development (Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js preferred)
• Solid knowledge of API design, asynchronous systems and microservices architecture
• Experience with PostgreSQL or comparable relational databases
• Understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP or Azure) and containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes)
• An independent, quality-focused way of working and a genuine passion for technically challenging problems
